Hello!

Let’s talk newborn photos - I want to cover some of the most frequently asked questions I receive, and share all the info I have to offer!

-How early can you book your session?

As soon as you know your due date! I tentatively place a session date about 1 week after your due date, and then we can adjust later as needed depending on when your sweet baby arrives. It’s a GREAT idea to book as far in advance as possible, I book weddings and other sessions as far as 6-18 months out! I want to get you in my schedule ASAP if you’re wanting a session.

-What’s the difference between an in studio session, or an in home lifestyle session?

A studio offers the perfect neutral location - saves you the work of tidying up your home for a lifestyle session, and typically has incredible lighting and lots of props to work with. In studio, I usually do a few different posed newborn photos where they’re in baskets, tiny beds, etc - as well as utilizing the couches, beds, and wall backdrops to get some family photos.

An in home session is where I travel to you, and capture your newest family member in your own space! I capture photos of the family holding and interacting with the baby, as well as some photos of them in their nursery.

-How do we get our baby to relax and sleep for photos?

I send out a newborn photo guide the week of your session that has some tips! I ask that you try to keep the baby awake for 1.5 hours prior to your session (which I realize can be tricky ;), this can be achieved by tickling their feet, taking off more layers and sometimes down to just a diaper, talking to them and playing with them. I ask that you feed them right before the session starts, and then we can feed in the middle if necessary. Babies LOVE to be nice and warm, I will usually crank up the studio heater, or bring a space heater if I am unable to adjust the thermostat.

What if my baby has red or dry skin? How can we fix this?

It’s my job to know how to correct the babies skin in photoshop! Do not worry about the quality of their skin, and don’t try to peel off skin or mess with the baby acne. They are perfect how they are! A lot of the skin smoothing is done in post processing.

How long is your turn around time on Newborn photos?

I take approximately 3 weeks to return newborn photos, sometimes sooner depending on my editing queue.

Can we print with you?

ABSOLUTELY! I do not require that you print with me, but I recommend printing with a high quality printing shop because your every day grocery stores and pharmacies do not have the necessary gear to produce high quality prints.

Do you provide all the props needed?

Typically, yes! I have a variety of swaddles and props that I use and can bring to our photoshoot. If there is something specific you are looking for, or have an item that is sentimental that you’d like to use, please bring it with you!
